Floodlight work completed after Storm Isha hits Elgin City's stadium
A STORM-DAMAGED floodlight at Elgin City has been repaired ahead of a big game for the club on Saturday.
And stadium manager Cecil Jack has thanked everybody who enabled the repair to be carried out as quickly as possible.
The floodlight had been ripped from its base by Storm Isha earlier in the week.
With the club hosting Dumbarton in a crucial Cinch League Two fixture at Borough Briggs this weekend, it was a race against time to get the floodlight fixed and the relevant safety checks carried out.
Mr Jack said: "It has been unbelievable how quickly it has all come together. Many thanks to everyone who has helped."
Ian Mitchell of Peter Mitchell and Sons engineers of Fogwatt carried out the repair, with the help of Macduff Cranes and Grant Symon, technical director at Fairhurst engineers in Elgin.
The floodlight has been secured in a new base plinth.
Mr Jack also thanked Moray Council's roads and safety officers for their support in getting the road closed on Friday to enable the work to go ahead.
A final safety inspection of the floodlight is due to take place later today.
The game against Dumbarton will still have a 2pm kick-off on Saturday. The earlier kick-off had been put in place as a contingency should the floodlight work not have been completed in time.
Elgin are also at home to Clyde on Tuesday night.
