FORRES Academy pupil Connie Clinch successfully defended her Scottish Junior Barebow title at the Scottish Indoor Archery Championships at the weekend.

Connie (15) was shooting in East Kilbride and, for the second time in two weeks, smashed the current under-18 Scottish Record for the indoor 20-yard round (known as a Portsmouth) of 458/600 with a Championship winning score of 491.

She also placed third in the Senior Women's barebow competition (476/600), coming within two points of tying for the silver medal position.

The competition signals the end of the indoor archery season, which saw Connie – a member of Forres Archery Club and the Scotland U21 Archery Squad – win silver in under-16s GB Nationals just before Christmas.

The outdoor season is due to begin in April, with most shooting distances moving to 50 metres.

Connie hopes to climb the Great British Junior outdoor rankings from last year's eighth position in what was her first competitive season.
