Thistle won every league match last season to claim the title and opened this year's campaign with four straight wins, but they tasted defeat at the army base last week.

Sappers were in fine form to register a 5-1 win over the East Conference leaders, with Duncan Menzies grabbing two goals in the first half.

Darriel Browne added two more including a fine individual effort and after James McLaren pulled one back for Thistle, James Thomas wrapped it up with a good finish.

Sappers still trail in the West Conference behind Carisbrooke who made it five wins out of five following a 5-0 victory at Elgin Albion on Friday.

Connor Aubrey, Rob MacKinnon, Ali MacKenzie, Scotty Moore, and Adis Jaganjac were on target for the Forres side.

Caberfeidh may be bottom of the East Conference but they raced into a 2-0 lead over Mosset Tavern before the Forres men hit back for a 4-3 victory.

David Bromley's second half brace proved crucial as he added to Cameron Grant and Gregor Ewan strikes which cancelled out Caber's lead.

Jamie Lees (2) and Robbie Chalmers were on the scoresheet for the Elgin men.

Forres Mechanics under-20s are on good form and produced a fine 4-2 success at Elgin Caledonian.

Striker Neil Owen notched twice with Ciaron Stone and an own goal making up the Forres total, despite a goal each for Simon Lobban and Chris McKnight for Caley.

Friday, McIntosh Rosebowl quarter-finals: Mosset or Vikings v Caberfeidh or Forres under-20s; Elgin Caledonian v Carisbrooke; Kinloss Sappers v Elgin Thistle; Elgin Albion v Riverside Thistle.
