HISTORY-MAKER Kevin Walker is relishing the challenge of leading Forres Thistle into the Super League for the first time.

The Jags have never played in the top flight of North Junior football in their 100 year history.

However, all that will change next season when Walker’s men take their place among the elite clubs.

They earned the point they needed for automatic promotion with a 2-2 draw at Islavale on Saturday.

With champions Inverness City again denied promotion due to ground problems, Forres went into the game knowing that a point was all they needed to clinch the runners-up spot that now carried the sole automatic promotion place.

Walker, who has been in charge of the club for over eight years, insists his players have earned the right to mix it with the big boys.

"The players’ attitude and commitment towards training and playing has been spot-on," he said.

"For us to get into the super league is a tremendous achievement. They have all shown they can play at this level."
