The Dundee outfit lifted the trophy tree times in a decade around the turn of the century, and are this year bidding for a place in the Highland League through the new Midlands League in the Scottish football pyramid system.

Jags welcomed their established opponents to Logie Park and gifted them a 6-0 win with some sloppy defending throughout.

Home keeper Daniel McLeod was in action as early as the third minute, saving Dayle Robertson’s header from a corner.

The first goal wasn’t far away, with Louis Joyce breaking down the Tayport right into the penalty area before cutting back for Lyall Shaw to score - yet another early goal conceded by Forres.

On 18 minutes a through ball was missed by three Thistle defenders and released Jamie Gill who fired home the visitors’ second.

Jags denied Tayport any more goals in the first half, though they had an escape when Ryan paterson’s ball into the box saw Robertson beat keeper McLeod to it and hit an effort which bounced up on to the bar before being cleared.

A rare Forres opportunity led to captain Mattie Davidson striking the outside of the post from 18 yards right on the break.

Eight minutes after the break, the home defence was posting missing and Robertson was presented with an easy chance to convert.

The same player tucked away a Gill cross to make it 4-0 just before the hour.

With 20 to go, a free kick on the right was worked to the back post where Joyce was unmarked to knock in goal number five.

Forres hoped for the final whistle at this stage but came undone one more time in the last minute, Ross Cameron given space at the back post to finish another cross ball and complete a 6-0 victory.

The Jagsa are away to Islavale in Division Two on Saturday (2pm).
