The City boss is now urging his men to respond to Saturday’s 3-1 loss in Coatbridge by seeing off Stenhousemuir at Borough Briggs this weekend.

Leading through Matthew Cooper’s 28th minute header at the break, the Black and Whites fell away in the second half.

Former City loan striker Matty Aitken netted twice including a superb free kick, and Joe Moore broke away to seal victory in stoppage time after the home side had been reduced to 10 men.

“It’s not an easy place to go to and Albion Rovers worked really hard and made it difficult for us,” said Price

“We should have still done better from the position we were in at half time.

“At times we’ve got to remember that going away from home , getting a point is not the end of the world.

“It’s almost a desperation that we’ve got to go and win the game. But not losing games is more important.

“We’ll just need to move on. We are going to get the ups and downs as the season goes on but as long as we try and keep the consistency as high as we can and get back to winning ways on Saturday against Stenhousemuir.”

It was Elgin’s 44th league defeat in Price’s century of games at the helm – they have won 41 – but their fortunes in the past year have been particularly good.

Since losing at Edinburgh City in their opening game of 2020, the Moray outfit have won 12 and lost just five of their League 2 outings, including last week’s reversal at Albion.

They may have had a seven-month gap without games, but the year of the pandemic would be considered a good one for results as far as Price is concerned, particularly if they win tomorrow.

“Saturday is probably the poorest result we’ve had this season but I feel we have picked up where we left off in March,” he said.

“I feel that 2020 has been a really good year for us when you look at the amount of wins we’ve had in the games.

“We’ve just got to keep going. It’s the same squad of players, the same personnel and coaching staff so we should be able to brush off the wee blips and make sure they don’t last long.”

Last Saturday was also Brian Cameron’s 350th league appearance for Elgin. The midfielder has played a total of 425 matches in all competitions for his hometown team, scoring 78 goals.

Cameron was due to have a testimonial match which will now go ahead in 2021.
