Moray Figure Skating Club has enjoyed more success on the national sporting scene in two big events.

Several of the club's skaters headed for the Granite City to take part in the Aberdeen National Opens.

One of the stars of the show was Buckie-based Chloe Sutherland, who stormed to victory in the National 3 competition in a field of 15 skaters from across Scotland.

Team-mate India Hay was just as successful in the National 2 event, claiming top spot in both the technical and components scores.

The golds kept coming for Moray, with Nether Dallachy-based John Stephen coming out on top in the beginner boys event, closely followed by club mate Cameron Wilkie who earned the bronze medal.

In the beginners ladies, Hannah Kirkman was taking part in only her second competition at national level against 17 other competitors. She took the silver medal home.

Finishing fourth in their events, just off the podium places were Millie Anderson and Mhairi Manson.

Wilkie was a medal winner again when he took part in last week's Tayside Opens in Dundee, this time claiming gold for Moray FSC.

His was one of several strong performances by the club with Adelie Forsyth, Dakota Okana-Wilson, Daniel Clapperton, Emily Wright, Maddie Bristow and Skye Murray also doing Moray proud.

The events brought the curtain down on the club's competitive year, which ended with a medal haul of 12 golds, eight silvers and six bronzes.

"Our club has a very successful reputation and proven track record, and we're always on the look out for new members," said Sue Summers-Farrell, who along with her brother Graeme Summers-Campbell leads the coaching at the club.

"Our Superskate sessions on Fridays are great fun and are open to anyone who has passed Skate UK level 4 and above.

"We're also now working hard for our upcoming Xmas Show which all our members can take part in."

Club members' ages range from five years to older adults, with many families skating on the ice together practicing their skating skills.
