THE start of the Highland League season may be some time away, but Kynoch Park is in perfect condition for when football does resume after lockdown.

Keith Football Club can be proud of the state of their pitch and stadium, thanks to the hard work of ground staff and volunteers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Chairman Andy Troup said the club paid for pitch repair work and set ground convener Iain Andrews and his fellow backroom staff members John Troup, Andrew Leslie and Billy Walker the task of making the place immaculate.

“People like Charlie Simpson (vice-chairman) who’s been at the club for 50 years say they have never seen the pitch looking so good,” said Troup.

“The ground staff have done a fantastic job this year at Kynoch Park.

“We spent a bit of money getting people in to underseed it and I have to say it looks fantastic. All the staff and volunteers have been working so hard during the shutdown to get the ground and the facilities up to the fantastic standard it’s at. It’s looking amazing.”

Manager Dean Donaldson hasn’t been able to make it through to Keith since lockdown but Troup added: “He is getting regular pictures from me and all the staff are desperate to get back on to the park.

“It will happen when it can.”
