Results round-up: Lightning forecast as play gets under way this morning at Duff House Royal Golf Club on the final day of the five-day open

WEATHER permitting, Duff House Royal Golf Club's five-day open will reach a conclusion today.

The semi-finals of all three sections are already under way this morning with the finals planned for lunchtime to avoid a forecast of thunder and lightning later in the day.

The home club is well-represented in the semi-finals of all three sections.

Minus 1 handicapper Ellis Gray is playing Duff House Royal club mate Ross Mcauslin (1) in the first semi-final of the scratch section.

The other semi sees Meldrum House golfer David Morrison, a -2 handicap player who shot 64 and 67 to qualify as the lowest scorer in the first two rounds, take on scratch golfer Kevin Thomson from Moray Golf Club in Lossiemouth.

The final is due to begin at 1pm.

In the lower handicap section, Jim Barber - who plays off 8 - flies the flag for Duff House Royal as he takes on Neil Ritchie - also 8 - from Thornton Golf Club in Fife in the semis.

Another Thornton visitor C Black (9) meets 3-handicap Fraserburgh player Owen Johnston in the other tie.

Three Duff House Royal members are left in the last four of the higher handicap section.

David Edwards, who plays off 20, is the home hopeful in the first semi against another of the Fife Thorton contingent, 14-handicap golfer Kenneth Dear.

The Banff club can lay claim to both players in the other semi as James Robertson (11) meets Rory Mcdermott (14).

Both handicap finals are also scheduled to take place just after 1pm.
