Festival organiser and club coach Graham Stewart said that the event proved to be a fantastic success.

He said: "Since the club was established in 2007 we have grown from strength to strength.

"Although we have previously worked with Moray Active Schools for smaller primary school basketball events this was the first time we opened an event up to the whole of Moray.

"A coaching course and resources were offered by the club prior to the festival and the standard of basketball on the day was exceptionally high.

"It is hoped we can host these events more frequently and continue to take the game to the next level in Moray and beyond."

The teams involved at the event included Aberlour, Alves, Anderson’s, Bishopmill, Cullen, Dyke, East End, St. Sylvester’s and West End Primary.

Teams were split into four mini leagues and then after playing each other the teams were then matched on a court with teams of a similar ability, allowing for competitive games.

Graham gave a special mention to the officials who gave up their time and helped coach the players through the rules of the sport.

Moray Mavericks train at Elgin High School and are involved in developing a North of Scotland Regional Association to increase opportunities for competitive basketball at all ages from u10s and including adult basketball.
