ELGIN City are hoping the frost will stay away long enough to allow a crucial clash to take place at Clyde on Tuesday night.

City were inactive again last weekend when their game against leaders Annan Athletic at Borough Briggs fell victim to the wintry weather.

That allowed Stranraer to take over at the top of the third division table.

However, despite being out of action over the last couple of weeks, City remain inside the promotion play-off places.

They are eight points behind Stranraer, Annan and Alloa, who are all on the 30 point mark.

Crucially, they have three games in hand over Stranraer and Alloa, and two games on Annan.

"Results have not been too bad and we have three games in hand over most teams," said manager Ross Jack (pictured).

He is hopeful the Clyde game will get the nod.

"There is still a covering of snow and a wee bit of frost on the park, but Clyde are hopeful it will go ahead. They are as keen to get the game on as we are. The last thing we need is games piling up."

If the game goes ahead, Jack will definitely be without the injured pair of Paul Kaczan and Craig Frizzel, while Stuart Leslie does not return from holiday until Thursday.
