ROSS Jack said he was proud of his players after they brought a five game losing streak on the road to an end at Annan Athletic.

The Elgin City boss was pleased with a 1-1 draw at Galabank.

"We had a few boys out there who were far from 100% but they put their bodies on the line. I was so proud of the players," he said.

City fell behind to a Jack Steel goal after 17 minutes but David Niven headed them level just before the half hour mark.

"David scored from a Daniel Moore corner with a great header," added Jack.

|"I am happy with a point but it could have been more. It has stopped the rot away from home.

"We went there looking for three points. We had some misfortune to go a goal behind but we responded well and finished the game the stronger.

"As a team we didn't play as well as we have done in recent weeks but there were some good individual performances.

"We lost Mark Nicolson in the first half when he went over on his ankle but David Niven went to centre half and was outstanding," said Jack.

The point keeps City eight points behind Annan, but they have three games in hand and Athletic still have to visit Borough Briggs twice before the end of the season.

The only sour note for City was a late red card for young defender Mark Durnan following dissent to a linesman.

Jack revealed that Nicolson could be out for a couple of weeks and will definitely miss Tuesday night's crucial game at home to Peterhead.

Paul Millar also suffered a hamstring injury. On the plus side, Ross O'Donoghue should come back into the squad for the Blue Toon clash after missing the visit to Annan through work commitments.

"It is still very much in our own hands but we need to get three points against Peterhead on Tuesday night," said Jack.
