A TASTE of SPL opposition has left Elgin City skipper Paul Kaczan determined to go on another Scottish Cup run this season.

However, Kaczan knows Fraserburgh will have something to say about that and City must work for the right to progress in the competition.

Last season, City dumped high-flying Livingston out of the competition to earn a crack at SPL neighbours Inverness Caley Thistle.

He knows what it feels like to be a giant-killer after City beat full-time Livvy at Borough Briggs.

"We need to go into the game with the same mentality we approach every game. We need to perform to get the victory and if we don’t we could come a cropper," he said.

Despite being Central Belt-based, Kaczan played in the summer friendly at Fraserburgh, which City won 3-1, and is relishing the return match.

"Even in the friendly matches, you get a sense of the rivalry with the Highland League clubs.

"That was the first time I have played at Fraserburgh and it was a nice wee park. It was very tight, which will probably suit them and play to their advantage.

"We have to show them the utmost respect or they could end up knocking us out of the cup."

Confidence is high in the City camp after taking four points from third division promotion rivals Alloa and Annan in the last two games.
