KEITH'S miserable Highland League season hit a new low as they were thrashed 7-2 at fellow strugglers Turriff United.

The Maroons look set to finish second bottom after their drubbing at The Haughs on Wednesday night.

Manager Dean Donaldson handed a debut to former Aberdeen goalkeeper Harrison Sharp (17), who was powerless to thwart Turriff's goal show.

David Ross, Nikolas Wozniak and Owen Cairns had the home side 3-0 up after half an hour and although Andy Smith got one back, Scott Miller made it 4-1 at the break.

Ross, Cairns and Miller all added their second goals to make it 7-1 after an hour and Keith were looking at the possibility of a double figures defeat.

The visitors stemmed the flow of goals in the last 30 minutes and managed a consolation through skipper Cammy Keith.

Forres Mechanics strengthened their position in fifth with a fine 2-0 win over Inverurie Locos.

Strikes other side of half time by Andy Macrae – his tenth in ten games – and Stuart Soane ended second-placed Locos run of seven straight wins.

But Forres are looking less likely to catch fourth-placed Formartine United, who won 1-0 at Fraserburgh.

Leaders Cove Rangers beat Strathspey Thistle 3-1 and could clinch the title if they win their next match against Clach and Fraserburgh don't pick up three points at Wick on Saturday.

Nairn defeated bottom side Fort William 1-0 while Brora Rangers came from 2-0 down to grab a 2-2 draw in their derby against Wick.
