HOME hero Russell Knox says he is enjoying the pressure of being the crowd favourite as an Invernessian at the AAM Scottish Open at Castle Stuart.
The current world number 27 shot a two-under par 70 in Friday’s second round to sit five shots off the lead at lunchtime.
Knox, who described the 50 mph winds during Thursday’s first round as “almost unplayable” conditions, said he felt he was unlucky not to score lower in much improved weather on Friday.
But he insists he is relishing being the home favourite playing a links course so close to the city where he was brought up.
“I think it makes it easier to be honest, because you have to try and smile as much as possible and really be thankful that everyone is out here supporting me, he said.
“Hopefully I'll use that as a plus on the weekend.
“I've played nicely. Maybe felt like today could have been a lot lower, but it is what it is, and happy to make the cut, and two more days in front of my home fans.”
