MIDWEEK wins took Lossiemouth and Buckie Thistle into the top half of the Highland League table.
Lossie saw off second bottom Huntly 2-0 at Grant Park on Wednesday, with early goals by Willie Mathers and Ryan Farquhar doing the business for the Coasters.
Buckie’s long trek to Fort William was rewarded with a 3-1 victory.
Lewis Mackinnon’s Jags’ opener was cancelled out by a home equaliser but Kevin Fraser restored their advantage and a late own goal sealed the points for Buckie.
Forres Mechanics also had a marathon trip to face Wick Academy but came home empty handed after a 2-0 defeat.
Keith put up a brave effort against title contenders Formartine United before going down 4-3.
The Maroons led through a Kris Duncan goal before United hit back to lead 4-1, including one goal from ex-Keith favourite Cammy Keith.
Greg Smith and Inverurie loan defender Sam Pugh pulled two goals back late on but Formartine held on.
Rothes took yet another heavy hit at home to leaders Turriff United, with a 9-0 defeat leaving them rock bottom.
Ex-Aberdeen striker Darren Mackie scored a hat-trick for the visitors while former Keith midfielder Andy MacAskill netted four.
