LOSSIEMOUTH manager Joe Russell hopes that Saturday’s Highland League clash against Strathspey Thistle can go ahead – even if it needs to be switched to Grant Park.

With adverse weather conditions across Scotland this week, there is a chance the match – scheduled to take place as Seafield Park in Grantown – could be called off.

Desperate to see his side back in action after a week off, Russell hopes the match can be switched to Lossie if that is the case.

He said: “It shouldn’t be too much of a drama to switch it. We will give it as long as we can and see if it’s possibility. It would be good to get a game.

“It will be a tough game. The games last season were close, so hopefully we can get the upper-hand this time.”

Lossie are scoring goals more regularly – with six in the last two games. Much of this is down to striker Martin Charlesworth, Russell said.

He added: “Martin is helping the players roundabout him, hopefully he stays injury free, and we can get a run of games out of him.

“He has the experience and has been a brilliant mentor for the youngsters.”
