Lossiemouth got their Highland League season up and running with a 1-0 win over Wick Academy on Saturday.

Champions Buckie Thistle made it two wins out of two by defeating Clach, and there were convincing home wins for Keith and Forres Mechanics.

After two defeats this season, Lossiemouth had striker Ross Archibald to thank for their narrow win against Wick. The youngster grabbed the only goal of the match with 20 minutes to go.

Buckie defender Lewis MacKinnon netted twice in his team's 3-1 win in Inverness against Clach. Graeme Stewart was also on target for Jags for the second week running.

Keith hit top form at home to Turriff United, with Jonathan Smith notching a hat-trick in a comfortable 5-0 success. Veteran Derek Nicol and Cammy Keith also scored in the romp for the Kynoch Park men.

For the second time this season, Forres Mechanics got the better of Fort William with a 4-0 win at Mosset Park. All the goals came in the final half hour, with Garry Tweedie, sub Ryan Green (2) and Lee Fraser sparing the Can Cans blushes.

Rothes were no match for Nairn County, with Michael Fletcher's strike a mere consolation in a 5-1 loss for the Speysiders.

Huntly looked on course for victoryat home to Fraserburgh when David Booth's hat-trick helped them to a 3-1 lead which they held until the closing moments. But two Fraserburgh goals in the last two minutes nicked a point for the Buchan visitors.

Results: Clach 1, Buckie 3; Cove 4, Brora 0; Forres 4, Fort William 0; Formartine 0, Deveronvale 3; Huntly 3, Fraserburgh 3; Keith 5, Turriff 0; Lossiemouth 1, Wick 0; Rothes 1, Nairn 5; Strathspey 1, Inverurie 4.
