LOSSIEMOUTH manager Frank McGettrick said conceding "easy goals" cost his side in Saturday's 4-1 home defeat against Nairn County.

The Coasters made it to half-time level, with Lossie defender Dean Stewart equalising after an early goal from Andrew Macleod.

But a double within six second-half minutes from Nairn forward Conor Gethins put the visitors in control, before Jared Kennedy's last-minute own goal sealed Lossie's fate.

McGettrick said: "4-1 was probably a bit harsh. At half-time it was 1-1 and we started the second half well, in the first five or 10 minutes.

"We had a good chance of getting something out of the game but we lost an easy goal that Nairn never had to work for.

"Conor Gethins is a terrific player and took the goal well but it was a gift for him. You could say the same for the third and fourth goals, too, and even the first was a free-kick.

"Even Nairn manager Steven Mackay said after the game that the scoreline flattered them and that bad mistakes cost us three goals.

"We have to move on from it now. We are in it as a team and a squad and will keep working hard and reflect on the positives that there are to take."

Lossie travel to Rothes on Saturday looking for their first win of the campaign. But McGettrick is expecting a tough task at Mackessack Park.

"Rothes is always a tough game," he added. "They are always hard to score against and have boys that can score goals. They are a difficult team to beat.

"Ross Jack has always got his teams well prepared and organised so we are expecting a tough game and we'll have to be at it from the start."

McGettrick is hoping to have Ross Elliot back for Saturday's match. He added that they were "always on the lookout" for players who will "strengthen the starting 11".
