LOSSIEMOUTH striker Craig Morrison is on the way out of Grant Park just three months after making his return to the club.

Coasters manager Charlie Charlesworth has released ‘Mo’ from his one-year contract, saying things just didn’t work out second time round for the 32-year-old attacker.

Charlesworth has further trimmed his squad by letting forward David Wilson go and loaning keeper Michael Miele out to junior side Islavale, while another summer signing, Grant Milne, is also expected to head for the exit door.

But it is the departure of Morrison, a firm favourite with the fans during a goal-laden first spell with the club, that will cause the greatest surprise.

“It’s a bit of a shame for Mo, but he’s been totally professional about the whole situation,” Charlie revealed. “I just hasn’t panned out the way I think he thought it would.

“He picked up an injury in pre-season, and there were one or two ahead of him in the queue, so he didn’t get the minutes he would have liked.

“I don’t know if it was an under-estimation of what was required here at Lossie on his behalf or not, but he’s maybe been put in an unfair situation because he’s a great player.”

Fellow striker Wilson’s injury-hit Lossie career has also ended in him being released, while Charlesworth told ‘The Northern Scot’ that former Rothes midfielder Milne has not been in contact with him for some time, spelling the likely end of his brief Grant Park career.

Young keeper Miele will still fill in for regular number one Darren McConnachie if required, but has been farmed out to Islavale to give him games in the meantime.

Charlesworth is still smarting from last Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat against Clach, a game which saw his team lead 2-1 after 90 minutes but concede two goals in stoppage time.
