SEVEN wins in a row have propelled Forres Mechanics into the top six in the Highland League.
And the Moray side are just three points off third place following Saturday's 3-1 home success over ten-man Rothes.
In the only Highland League game to beat the weather, Mechanics took the lead when Lee Fraser bundled in his 11th goal of the season early on.
The Cans received a further boost when Fraser was pulled back by namesake and former Forres team-mate Steven, and the Rothes centre back was sent off with more than an hour still to go.
Forres struggled with the man advantage and Rothes threatened an equaliser on occasions.
However Stuart Soane made it 2-0 against the run of play with a close range finish on 58 minutes.
Graham Fraser hit the bar for the homesters before Robbie Duncanson added a third on 78 minutes.
Daniel Moore scored a penalty consolation for the Speysiders after Jaime Wilson was fouled.
Forres manager Charlie Rowley handed out praise to Rothes rather than his own team.
"It was really tough for us," he said. "There was no question we can play better than we did but you have to give the opposition credit."
Forres have defeated Lossiemouth, Deveronvale, Clach, Turriff, Nairn County, Keith and now Rothes in their seven-game charge with maximum points.
Making it eight-in-a-row will be the toughest challenge, however, as their next opponents are runaway league leaders Cove Rangers at Harlaw Park, Inverurie on Saturday.
