ROSS County striker Kyle MacLeod is staying at Elgin City until January, and the Borough Briggs club are closing in on another possible loan deal.#

City boss Jim Weir said keeping MacLeod until January was a “huge boost” for the club, and he is keen to get one more player farmed out from a Premiership club in time for this weekend’s home game against Stirling Albion.

A defender is top of Weir’s list, particularly with captain and centre back Jamie Duff currently needing injections in a knee problem to make him fit for 90 minutes of action.

The manager failed to get his target player in for last weekend’s trip to East Fife – a game City lost 2-1 – but he is pushing to conclude business in time for the Stirling clash.

“We have made an enquiry for someone that’s available. I would look to try and do something on that as soon as we can,” Weir said. “It depends on the club and the player, where they decide he should play.

“In the meantime, we’ve got Kyle up to January now which is a huge boost to the club. We are absolutely delighted with that.

“I’ve been really pleased with the contribution he’s made to the team and the understanding he’s built up with ‘Gunny’ (Craig Gunn). We’re due a big thanks to Ross County and Jim McIntyre in particular for allowing the lad to stay with us for longer.”
