Macleod backed up wins in February and September by beating Alex Cooper (Inverness) 6-2 in the latest final at the 147 Club, Inverness.

Cooper had defeated Roy Muckart on the final frame in the semi-finals while Macleod saw off fellow Moray player James McKenzie 6-2.

Meanwhile the Moray Snooker SuperLeague singles league is moving towards its conclusion across the Premier and Championship divisions.

This new competition sees players from both Inverness and Aberdeen snooker leagues take part in matches contested on the four top tables in the Elgin Ex Service Club.

Kenny MacPherson (Aberdeen) and Macleod lead the way in the Premier Division with James Mackenzie (Forres), Alex Cooper and David Thomson (Aberdeen) battling away to get into the quarter final playoff divisions.

The Championship league has been dominated by Gary Pope (Mosstodloch) with the rest of the division being so tightly bunched that it is impossible to call who will join Pope in the semi-finals and the quarter-final play-offs.

Mark Bell (Elgin), Neil Owen (Burghead) and Alan Mair (Fochabers) are in pole position to progress, with the competition played to a finish on April 10 at the Elgin Ex Service Club.

The Moray Snooker Team Championships has made some good progress with fixtures in spite of various variants and weather warnings affecting the schedule.

This year the 147 Club, Inverness have joined the league as a very welcome addition and made a very bright start by defeating both the Forres Legion and Elgin Ex Service Club in their opening two matches.

However, it is reigning champions The New Club 1 (Elgin) who top the league with around a third of fixtures completed.

A league spokesperson said: “With various singles leagues taking place in Inverness and Elgin there is certainly a buzz for snooker in the area just now. It is great to see a number of the local pool players step up and compete on the big table too.”
