Jake Stewart has been farmed out by the Pitmedden club to Kynoch Park for the rest of the season to help him gain more match minutes under Keith manager Craig Ewen.

Stewart signed for Formartine last summer from junior side Rothie Rovers, where he was a prolific goalscorer.

The forward will have to wait for his Maroons debut, as if Keith’s match goes ahead tomorrow it is away to Stewart’s parent club Formartine who won’t allow him to play.

Keith were scheduled to host Forres Mechanics in a Moray derby in their first fixture of the year last Saturday but Kynoch Park was waterlogged and the game was postponed on the Friday.

The game was rescheduled for Wednesday night, by which time sub-zero temperatures descended on the north-east and the pitch was frozen and became unplayable once again.

Keith twice led Formartine in their reverse fixture back in September. A penalty kick by Gavin Elphinstone - who is still on the transfer list at the Maroons - and a Jordan Cooper goal edged the home side in front but a Graeme Rodger double pulled United level and Julian Wade plundered a late victory for the away side with an 86th minute strike.

The Kynoch Park men finished 2023 with two away defeats at Clach just before Christmas - a 3-1 reversal with Matty Tough scoring for the Maroons - and a 3-0 loss at Fraserburgh on December 30.
