Pedestrian killed in HGV crash

A pedestrian has died in a collision with an HGV on a major road in Glasgow.

The man was hit by the vehicle on the Clydeside Expressway, which connects the city centre to the west end, at around 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Formal identification is yet to take place.

Sergeant Adnan Alan of the Police Scotland road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Our inquiries are ongoing and I’d like to thank motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident.

“The road reopened around 7.20pm on Wednesday.

“We continue to appeal for anyone with dashcam footage, or who witnessed the crash, to please come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 1688 of January 29.
