The event was part of the lead-up to next year’s World Orienteering Championships in Edinburgh and provided an opportunity for elite orienteers to compete across the three world championship disciplines: mixed sprint relay, knockout sprint and individual sprint.

Orienteers from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA took part, with Moravian Orienteers' Isobel Howard competing against the world’s best in the GB team.

The events provided fast and competitive orienteering action across Dunblane, Stirling University and the historic Stirling Old Town, which offered both technical and physical challenge.

Public races were also held in the same venues, with sprint events on Friday and Saturday and a longer urban event on the Sunday.

Members of Moravian Orienteers attended the public races over the three days with some great individual performances. Notably, Moravian’s 14-year-old Finlay McLuckie’s winning time in his individual sprint nearly matched the winning time of the women’s elite winner in her qualification race.

Moravian top three podium places over the weekend public events went to Finlay McLuckie (1st Junior Men), Morag McLuckie (3rd Veteran Women) and Andrew Campbell (1st Supervet Men).

The event was organised and hosted by Forth Valley Orienteers.
