Moray Juniors: Dufftown hit seven, Islavale score six and Forres Thistle and Burghead Thistle win

THERE was a mixed bag of results for Moray’s junior sides in the North Region Championship on Saturday as Islavale thrashed Lossiemouth United 6-0 in a local derby.

James Stables hit a hat-trick before the game even reached the half hour mark. Stables opened the scoring after an interception from Robert Scott in the final third in the 14th minute.

He added a second with a wonder goal from a quick corner kick. James then got his hat-trick in the 26th minute after reacting quickest from a long throw in.

Brodie Christie grabbed a double in the second half, first scoring a header from a Scott cross and then getting onto a Finlay Milton ball in. Milton then added a goal of his own on 77 minutes to round off the scoring.

Kris Duncan hit a fantastic five goals for Dufftown in a 7-4 win over bottom-of-the-table Whitehills, with the other two goals added to by Logan Grant.

Forres Thistle picked up a 3-1 win over Glentanar in Aberdeen. The Jags were a goal to the good at the break through Neil Owen, with late goals from Ewan Turner and Sam Janousek securing the win after an equaliser from the home side’s Finlay Brown.

Burghead Thistle picked up a 4-2 win over Hall Russell United. Goals from Ryan MacBean, Kelvin Mackenzie, Jamie Davidson and Harry Allen gave the Jags the win. New Elgin were beaten 4-1 by league leaders Banks O’ Dee Juniors.
