Gold medal glory for Moray’s Hazelwood Kettlebell Club at world championships in Denmark

Moray has a world champion in the sport of kettlebells.

Five members of the Hazelwood Kettlebell Club, based in Rothes, headed to Denmark to take part in the International Kettlebell Marathon Federation (IKMF) world championships.

The event was part of the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting European Championships, held in the city of Nyborg.

One of the Moray five, Gayle Anderson took part in the 20kg, 30 minute one arm long cycle event (269 reps) and achieved master of sport to gain the gold medal, becoming a world champion.

Team-mate Kevin Milne achieved master of sport and won bronze in 32kg, 30 minute one arm long cycle (315 reps).

Another bronze medal and master of sport achievement was gained by Siobhan Robertson in the 18kg 30 minute half snatch (444 reps).

Achieving candidate for master of sport were David Duguid in the 22kg 30 minute half snatch (364 reps) and Charlene Walker in the 14kg 30 minute half snatch (456 reps).

Club founder and coach Linda Duguid said: “This was also their first time competing on the International stage so to achieve these results first time out representing Scotland is phenomenal.”
