Lhanbryde continue good start to Morayshire Indoor Bowling Association season

Lhanbryde made it two wins from two with an impressive home victory against Forres Victoria.

The visitors started impressively with Paul Rogan scoring a three on the final end to win 12 shots to 8. Neil Roger ensured a first session advantage for the home club scoring five on his last end, winning 18 shots to 4.

Neil Ogilvie won a close encounter 12-11 and Robert Wildgoose wrapped up the victory winning 14-7 as Lhanbryde are the only club in either division to have a 100 per cent record.

Fogwatt got their campaign off to a winning start against Lossiemouth, Ronnie Watt, Gordon Wiles and Lee Denoon all with comfortable victories.

Birnie took control of their home match against Hopeman B, and despite a spirited effort from Ross Tripp, Charles Stewart supported by David Parry ensured a maximum six points for the village club.

Lossie BC A hosted Duffus with home skip Alan Smith ensuring victory and four points for the hosts with the visitors going home with two points.

In the First division the stand-out match was Alves at home to Hopeman A.

Gordon Gallagher scored 14 shots in the last five ends to give the home club a narrow three-shot lead going into the second session. Colin Taylor won his match 12-6 to increase the advantage, Alistair Robertson played superbly winning 15-5 to secure a single shot victory and a valuable four points for the coastal club.

Champions Lossie BC were involved in a terrific contest away to Forres Royal British Legion.

Ian McArthur won the last two ends to win his match 11-8 while William Stewart made it a one-shot match heading into the second session winning 11-9.

Neil Mathers made it a two-shot match winning 9-8, George Jack showed what champions are made off with a hard fought 13-8 win to seal overall victory by three shots and claim four points.

Burghead held a narrow three-shot advantage after the first session at home to Fochabers, Ryan Gordon and David Ross proved too strong in the second session to give the coastal club a maximum six points and joint top spot.

In the Elgin derby Bishopmill led Moray BC by four shots going into the second session, both second house matches went in favour of the home club who claimed all six points.

Results,1st Division: Forres R.B.L. 37 Lossie BC 40, Alves 49 Hopeman A 50, Burghead 56 Fochabers 25 Bishopmill 54 Moray BC 37.

2nd Division: Birnie 67 Hopeman B 17, Lhanbryde 52 Forres Victoria 34, Fogwatt 59 Lossiemouth 33, Lossie BC A 56 Duffus 47.
