ELGIN City's eighth consecutive away defeat at Clyde has left them playing catch-up in the League 2 promotion race.

David Goodwillie's 60th minute strike was enough to send City home pointless yet again.

With fourth-placed Stenhousemuir winning at leaders Peterhead, the Black and Whites slipped four points behind the play-offs zone.

Elgin have failed to pick up a solitary point from their last seven league games on the road, following on from a Scottish Cup defeat at Dumbarton.

This weekend City are on their travels again as they play Cowdenbeath at Central Park, the last away venue they tasted vistory at back on November 11.

City boss Gavin Price made one change from the team which defeated Berwick 3-0 on Saturday.

Calum Ferguson came in for his first-ever start for the club and Declan Byrne dropped to the bench.

The only goal arrived on the hour when the visiting defence gifted Goodwillie a free header at Chris McStay's free kick and the former Scotland man powered home a header.
