A Moray club specialising in kettlebell fitness has returned from a national competition in England with five medals to show for their efforts.

Hazelwood Kettlebell Club runs classes in Rothes, Aberlour and Elgin as well as entering their members in tournaments across the country.

Their latest event in Northamptonshire reaped its rewards as the Moray lifters took home three gold and two silver medals.

Last year the club had success at the English Kettlebell Association Open Pentathlon.

Events involved competitors lifting weights on platforms, with points gained on a combination of the weight of bells and repetition of lifts.

Linda Duguid, who founded the Hazelwood club, said her latest competition was slightly different from the pentathlon event.

"This was a kettlebell marathon, so you could choose from a 30 minute or 60 minute set, non-stop," she explained.

"There’s a few different lifters to choose from but we all did half snatch for 30 minutes."

She added that lifters are placed in different categories based on body weight, age and lift ability.

Linda was one of the club's three gold medallists along with Jamie Douglas and Charlene Walker, while Gayle Anderson and David Duguid both took silver.

The club will host new classes at the Moray Sports Centre from Tuesday, April 5.
