AXED Buckie Thistle skipper Michael Morrison admits he was shocked and puzzled at manager Gregg Carrol’s decision to transfer list him.
Morrison and Andy Low are the first two players to be shown the door as Gregg Carrol tries to shake up his squad.
Morrison said: "I feel I have been made a bit of a scapegoat, but it was probably an easy option for Gregg as I am out of contract at the end of the season.
"I asked his reasons and he said he had to make cuts; it was a financial thing."
The transfer bombshell was dropped on Morrison at training on Monday night.
"I am still a little bit puzzled and it took a couple of days to sink in. I initially thought about calling it a day but that was maybe a gut reaction. I definitely want to carry on," added Morrison (32).
After lifting the Highland League title in his first season with the club, Morrison was hoping to add another winner’s medal this season and possibly even see out his career at Victoria Park.
Morrison is already aware of interest from a number of Highland League clubs.
Carrol told ‘The Scot’: "The standard of football in the last six weeks has not been good enough and we need to start afresh.
"We need to trim the squad and think about boys who are out of contract. Mo and Andy are both out of contract at the end of the season."
"That is a choice I have made myself. There are no issues with those players and there could still be other players moving on."
