Nine man Elgin City earn a point in 2-2 draw at Forfar Athletic

ELGIN City earned a share of the spoils at Station Park after an eventful game against Forfar which saw them lead twice and ultimately hang on for a point after being reduced to nine men in the closing stages.

They took the lead in the fifth minute when Kane Hester – who signed a contract extension earlier in the week – fired home from outside the box.

Elgin's longest serving player Brian Cameron was shown two yellow cards in the space of 10 minutes, the second caution for a handball in the box which gave Matthew Aitken the chance to level from the penalty spot for the home side.

Despite being a man down, Elgin City restored their lead in the 67th minute when Jake Dolzanski was fouled in the box and Russell Dingwall converted the spot kick.

With eight minutes of normal time remaining, Ben Armour fired the Angus men level again.

In the third minute of added time Angus Mailer was shown a second yellow card and Elgin had to survive a further five minutes of added time to hang on to a point.

It was a second successive away draw for Elgin, who are still looking for their first league win of the campaign.

The Black and Whites are at home to Stranraer on Saturday.
