Moray success for Highland Badminton Group at North East of Scotland B-Grade tournament in Aberdeen Sports Village

Moray players were among the winners at a north badminton competition played in Aberdeen.
Highland Badminton Group sent six under-13s and four under-17s to the North East of Scotland B-Grade tournament in Aberdeen Sports Village.
Elgin’s Callum McWhirter was again one of the dominant player in the boys’ under-17 events.
The Scotland international lost out in the final of the singles, but bounced back to win both the boys doubles with Aberdeen partner Arnav Saraswat and mixed doubles alongside Chloe Mackenzie from Caithness.
Mackenzie went one better by claiming a trophy treble as she took the girls singles and teamed up with fellow Caithness player Ava Cook to triumph in the doubles.
Moray’s Kaiya Wilkes went out of the girls singles in the group stages and also competed with Maia Baker (Midland) in the girls doubles and Aditya Nagdeve (North East) in the mixed.
Among the six north players in the under-13s were Moray duo Jai Wilkes and Finn Wishart, who teamed up to reached the semi-finals of the boys singles. Both exited the singles at the group stages.
