Now lucky charm Donnie is left waiting for his ace
MORAY Golf Club’s fourth green is the setting for a tale of two ‘hole-in-one’ golfers and their special lucky charm.
Urquhart-based player Jim Morris celebrated his first-ever ace in a 40-year golfing career at Lossiemouth’s Old Course’s 193-yard 4th on August 10, with his scorecard being marked by club colleague Willie Watson, from Elgin.
The achievement brought about a strange quirk of fate, as Willie had also landed a first hole-in-one at the same hole in April, when Jim was in the same group and marking Willie’s card.
And in a further stroke of good fortune, Jim and Willie not only recorded each other’s ace but on both occasions were partnered by a third golfer, Donnie Macdonald, who is now being hailed as their lucky charm.
