The Muntly under-16s took on their Perthshire counterparts in the final of the Inspiresport Caledonia Conference Cup final.

In the match at Canal Park in Inverness, Muntly took an early lead with an unconverted try.

Despite long periods of pressure, the Perthshire defence held firm and it was they who led at half time by 19 points to 12.

The weather was 'seasonal' with snow and hail showers but that didn't dampen Muntly's resolve and after an inspirational team talk at half time, the hybrid team came out with a point to prove.

They upped the tempo of the game and moved the larger Perthshire pack around the pitch.

As a consequence they powerfully dominated the second half scoring 28 unanswered points to take the cup home with a fine 41 points to 19 victory.

This Sunday, the Muntly under-16s play Perthshire under-16s again, this time in the Saltire Energy U16 Caledonia Shield final at Sheddocksley, Aberdeen.

At the same venue, Muntly under-18s play Ellon under-18s in the Saltire Energy U18 Caledonia Plate final.
