The dreaded 3-2 split in the judges’ decisions went against Elgin on two occasions, highlighting the very fine margins between victory and defeat.
Both opening fighter Kurt Shaughnessy (against Lochaber’s Kyle McDonald) and Lennon Porter (against Lochaber’s Jamie Douglas) were edged out in close bouts, while Marcus McEwan was defeated on a 4-1 split against Highland Boxing Academy’s Brodie Zindeldin.
Losing on unanimous decisions were Elgin’s Abdul Bah, who battled superbly with Kincorth BC’s Adam Findlay, Calum Hunter against Lochaber’s Ryan Cameron and Tyler Sked against HBA’s Robert Stewart.
Club head coach Paul Gordon said there was an “absolutely brilliant” fight in the all-Elgin bout between Jacob Ballingall and Andrew Forsyth, won by the former.
There was also a 60kg youth district final, a 75kg senior final and an 86kg senior novice final on the same bill.
One of the club’s female boxers, Faith Ross, recently won the Scottish Novice 60kg title and was named as the club’s boxer of the year.
