LOSSIEMOUTH twice came from behind to secure a point in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Turriff United at Grant Park.

Just a point separates the sides in the Highland League table, and the on-field action was as close as the league suggested it would be.

Kyle Gordon gave the visitors the lead after 12 minutes, with Liam Archibald levelling the scores on the half hour mark.

Fergus Alberts' first goal for Turriff had them back ahead on the hour mark, before Niall Kennedy's penalty saw the spoils shared at 2-2.

Lossie boss Ian Campbell said: "It was a game we were targetting for three points but a draw was probably fair enough and I'd have taken that after going behind twice.

"Turriff started strongly but the second half was more even. We hit the post but they had some late chances.

"Turriff are a much-improved team. I was impressed with them. They are young, but strong, physical and can play football – Dean (Donaldson, manager) has done a good job there."

Turriff United disputed the penalty awarded to Lossiemouth, but Campbell added that there was contact and that "softer ones have been given against Lossie".

Next up for Lossie is Clachnacuddin, again at home, on Saturday.

"There's bit of yo-yoing about between us, Clach and Turriff in the table," Campbell said.

"We are hoping for another positive result. Clach are a bit like us in that they haven't travelled well but are good at home.

"We'll be back to full strength so it's about pushing on and trying to get more points than we did last season, when we got 30, or finishing higher up the table.

"We are four shy of last season's points total just now but there's no Fort William in the league so that changes things a bit and teams might finish higher with fewer points."

Campbell added that Ross Paterson, recently signed from Forres Thistle, has been a great addition to the side.

Ross Morrison has also decided to stay with the Coasters, despite interest from other Highland League sides.

"It's another feather in the cap for us that players are wanting to stay and come to play for us despite getting offers from other clubs," he said.

"Ross (Paterson) has been a great signing and has been one of the strongest players in the four games he's played."

On his future as Lossie boss, Campbell added that is was "not very likely" that he would remain in charge next season.

"I'm taking it until the end of the season and we will re-evaluate but I don't have much time for it with running a business full-time," he explained.

"I would be spreading myself too thin. Myself, Scott Campbell and Tony Ross are all kind of running to together at the minute."
