PICTURES: Moray athletes of all ages shine at North District Cross Country Championships at Gordonstoun

Hundreds of athletes braved wintry conditions at Saturday's North District Cross Country Championships at Gordonstoun.

Leading the way in the under-20 men's race was Bruce Evans (Forres Harriers) who covered the 6.5km course in 24 minutes and 32 seconds, pipping Elgin AAC's Tom Palmer into second place.

Over the same distance in the under-20 women's event, MRR's Grace Jenkins was second behind Stornoway runner Rachel Murray, with Moray's Hannah Stephen third.

Also representing Moray Road Runners, Gemma Cormack was third in the senior women's race less than a minute behind winner Catriona Graves over the 8km course.

MRR's Katja Blunden won the women's 40+ event in 32:02 to complete a family double, with husband Matthew victorious in the male 40+ event in 26:56.

The senior men's race was won by East Sutherland's Ross Gollan, 30 seconds ahead of Moray Road Runners' James Wilson in second. MRR were also second tream in the seniors.

Also running for MRR, Adam Baker and Sam Milton finished as second and third M35 runners respectively, and Gareth Jenkins was second in the M50 category with Moray team-mate Stephen Carmichael fourth.

Keith and District AAC had a category winner in Mike Stewart in the male 55 race, as did Forres Harriers with David Weir claiming the M60 prize.

Forres also won the female 55 category through Clare Nicholas and the female 60 race, won by Ros Wright.

In the junior races, MRR's Rhys Paterson was 1lth over the 3km under-13 boys course, with Forres Harriers' Tom Roche-Nishimori 15th.

In the Masters women's teams, Forres were second and Moray third, with Moray second senior team.

Gordonstoun's boys finished second in the team event, thanks to the efforts of Harry Barr, Liam Ferguson and Josh Clark.

Moray Road Runners boys were third team in the under-15s, helped by William King's 11th position individually.

In the under-15 girls, Alex Whelan (MRR) was fifth over the 4km course.

In the under-17 women, Gordonstoun's Louisa Prendergast was seventh and Elgin AAC's Evie Collins came 13th, with Gordonstoun's team third.
