It was honours even at Harlaw Park on Saturday as Inverurie Locos drew 1-1 with Rothes.

The Speysiders opened the scoring when Ryan McRitchie knocked the ball home from a rebound.

Locos captain Greg Mitchell brought his team back into the match with a fantastic strike to equalise.

McRitchie was then sent off, however, the hosts could not make the extra man count and had to settle for a share of the points.

Rothes manager Ross Jack felt it was a missed opportunity by his team to claim victory, and disputed the red card shown to McRitchie.

"It was two points dropped in the end," he said.

"I thought we played extremely well in the first half against the wind and controlled it.

"Both teams had opportunities, we hit the bar with Greg Morrison managing an amazing shot.

"We deserved more from the game I felt.

"Ryan McRitchie's red card was not a sending off for me. The tackle was won and Ryan got the ball fair and square. Three Locos players then came in and challenged him and that's when it went silly.

"As for the tackle it was a fair one. If my centre-half didn't win that ball I would be angry because that's what I expect him to do, and that's what he did. I feel sorry for Ryan with that.

"I'm disappointed as I really thought we had the game in the bag but we just couldn't hold on.

"It was an even first half, we were playing against the wind and then we had it second half more across the park.

"After we scored in the second half we didn't give them many chances until we switched off for Greg Mitchell's goal, which was a great finish.

"However, it was careless play on our part for allowing that scoring opportunity to happen."
