THE Banffshire derby between Keith and Buckie Thistle turned into a one-sided contest in the rain.
Wednesday night's clash almost didn't go ahead with Kynoch Park waterlogged but passed playable.
The Maroons, already stung by a 6-0 loss to Brechin and 5-0 reversal against Fraserburgh in their previous two home matches, had to face up to the Highland League's form side.
Buckie had already beaten Keith 10-0 this season and arrived at the Kynoch with 16 consecutive league victories under their belts.
As they often do to their opponents, Jags struck early through Max Barry's 15th goal of the season and Andy MacAskill doubled their lead from the penalty spot - his 18th strike of the campaign.
Two players who haven't featured as heavily on Buckie's goalscoring charts got their names on the scoring sheet twice to emphasise the depth of firepower available to manager Graeme Stewart.
Sam Pugh added a third before half time and Scott Adams made it 4-0 shortly after half time.
A second penalty award for the visitors led to a second taker, with MacAskill substituted moments earlier.
The responsibility was given to Pugh of drilling home his team's 100th league goal of the season and he did not disappoint, beating keeper Bal Demus from the spot on 77 minutes.
Adams added his eighth of the campaign to wrap up a comfortable night for the Victoria Park men.
With Fraserburgh winning by an identical scoreline at Deveronvale and Brora Rangers smashing in eight without replay at Forres, the title chase is well-and-truly on.
