PORTGORDON got their hands on the PMAC Second Division title last weekend.

The former welfare side have won the trophy in their first season in the junior ranks.

The coast side will look to complete a league and cup double tonight (Friday) when they face Nairn St Ninian in the final of the Elginshire Cup at Logie Park, Forres. The game kicks off at 7.30pm.

There will be added spice for the final as the Vics just pipped Nairn to the league title.

In his second season as boss, former player Graham Collie has led the club to a junior title.

"A lot of folk didn’t give us a chance of winning the league but I had a good feeling about it. we had a good mix of young and experienced boys," he said.

"We had a wee blip during the season but we managed to get it together and get over the line."

Collie has been with the club for five years as a player and latterly manager.

He is not merely setting his sights on surviving in division one next season.

"If I can hold on to most of the boys and get a couple of new faces in I think we have a chance to be up there challenging."

Secretary Dennis Clark said Collie had done a fantastic job.

"It has been a magnificent season for the club, we couldn’t have asked for better.

"It will be a lot more difficult next season in the first division as there are no bad teams in that league."

Portgordon will also be losing two of their younger players who have been offered contracts by Highland League Buckie Thistle.

Scott Davidson and Jordan Sutherland both featured for the Jags towards the end of the current season.
