PRIDE usually comes before a fall, the saying goes, but proud manager Ross Jack is convinced that won’t be the case for his Elgin City slickers.

Jack and assistant Barry Wilson have this week been savouring hitting the top of the third division table.

And Jack wants his players to prove any doubters wrong by cementing their leadership of the league at home to Clyde on Saturday.

"People will be waiting to see if we are just a flash in the pan and we have got to make sure that is not the case. Barry and myself have every confidence we can stay strong," he said.

"Saturday is another big test of character and we have to make sure we don’t fall flat on our faces.

"We take a great deal of pride from being top and although it is only after five games, we have fought hard to get it right.

"It has been tough down at the other end of the league for too long but there is still a hell of a long way to go.
