HUNDREDS of primary aged children from across the north of Scotland will descend on Morriston Playing Fields on Sunday (March 24) to take part in the annual Moray Rugby Club Mini/Micro Festival.

The Micros competition is a round robin tournament for under 5/6 and under 7/8, and there is individual competition for the Minis which comprises tournaments for under 9, under 10, under 11 and under 12.

Teams already confirmed for the event are Ross Sutherland, Highland, Nairn, Banff, Huntly and Garioch, as well as teams from home side Moray. Action kicks off at 10am on Sunday.

As well as a good day of rugby and the entertainment on offer, there will be tea, coffee and cakes – while there will also be a barbecue stall and a raffle and tombola.

Mini/Micro rugby is growing throughout the north of Scotland and the youngsters involved would love to see a large crowd watch them show off their skills.

In addition, Moray's First team play Adrossan in the quarter-final of the National Shield at Morriston at 3pm on Saturday.

On Sunday, Moray's under 13 team played in the Culblean Cup Final against Ellon U13 with the Aberdeenshire side running out 40-35 winners.

Also on Sunday, the Muntly (Moray and Huntly) U15 team played Dundee U15 in the semi-final of the Caledonia Youth Cup at Huntly. The Muntly team won 24-21 to put them into the final.
