THE big Highland League game of the weekend between Rothes and Brora Rangers has been postponed.

And Keith's clash with Brechin City has also fallen victim to the weather and failed a Friday pitch inspection.

Rothes manager Ross Jack said before the postponement that he would rather see his team's vital clash against champions Brora shelved than played on a MacKessack Park quagmire.

“It’s such a huge game for both teams that it would be a big disappointment if it was decided by a dodgy pitch or things like that," he said.

"Both teams would like to get it played on a decent park and with some good football and the fans want to see that as well.

The Speysiders’ last two home matches in the league against Fort William and last weekend’s Highland League Cup quarter-final against Fraserburgh were postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Now the Brora game has followed suit, meaning that the Speysiders have managed to play just one of four consecutive home matches scheduled over the past few weeks.

They drew 0-0 with Formartine United in their last outing on November 20, and are not due to play in Speyside again until December 27 against Brechin.
