The Speysiders endured a nightmare last weekend when they crashed 5-0 at Inverurie Locos and had Formartine loan keeper Ewen Macdonald red-carded.

Macdonald’s second dismissal of the season means a minimum two-game ban and with back-up Robbie Donaldson serving a suspension amid gambling allegations, it left manager Ross Jack in a pickle.

But Jack has been able to draft in Ross County kid Tommy Dixon-Hodge on loan for the rest of the season.

Further good news for the Moray club is that Donaldson, who was given a 12-game suspension by the SFA, and defender Dale Wood who was hit with a 20-game penalty, can both play in the meantime until the club’s appeal is heard in Glasgow.

Dixon-Hodge is likely to play in Rothes’ home league clash with Strathspey Thistle on Saturday.

Jack said: “Saturday’s defeat was a huge setback but I’m confident it was a one-off and won’t happen again.”

Rothes remain fourth and have a Highland League Cup quarter final at home to Keith on Wednesday night.
