His performances have been enough to show the Spiders – who play three tiers higher than Rothes – that he has what it takes to play for them.

A Rothes statement said: "We have agreed a fee with Queen's Park for the transfer of Callum Haspell.

"It's no surprise to us that he has caught the eye of higher level clubs.

"We wish Callum good luck at Queen's Park and all the best for the future."

Queen's Park, who play at Hampden in Glasgow, are managed by former St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson.

He told the club's website: “Callum is joining Queen’s Park as he has great potential and I have liked what I have seen from him on the training pitch. He sees the club as a suitable place to develop.

“He is still maturing but he has the opportunity to show everyone that he has what it takes to become a full-time professional footballer.”
