ROTHES manager Ross Jack hopes his side can regain “form and confidence” in tomorrow’s Scottish Cup clash with Carnoustie Panmure.

For the Speysiders, who head into the match off the back of successive 4-1 defeats against Clachnacuddin, the Scottish Cup brings a break from ‘domestic’ matters.

“The Scottish Cup is something totally different,” Jack said.

“It’s been a great build up and everybody is looking forward to it so hopefully we can get form and confidence back.

"It’s a great boost to be involved in the competition - the Scottish Cup is unique and renowned for the smaller clubs producing shocks.

“It’s one that the boys want to play in and I like managing in. We are looking forward to the match.”

Carnoustie Panmure are an ambitious side that are up towards the top end of the Midlands League, one of three leagues that now feeds into the Highland League.

With seven wins from nine league games so far, they are a side that’s used to winning regularly. They defeated Hawick Royal Albert 3-0 in a cup replay to set up this tie.

“They are well backed at the minute and are well up in the league so they’ll be tough opposition,” Jack added.

“It’s new territory for us, but we know it’s an absolutely massive game. The players are aware of the significance of the cup tie.

"We’ve had them watched so we are as well-versed as we can be. We need to play the game and not the occasion, and get into the hat for the next round.

“We’ve got a massive amount of players out, so it makes it an even more difficult proposition than we thought.”

Michael Finnis (suspended), Jack Maley (work) will be missing, while Greg Main, Kyle Whyte, Gary Kerr and Ally Mackenzie are injured.
