THE losing sequence stretched to five games in all competition for Rothes with last Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat by Clach.

Boss Graham McBeath admitted: "It is a cause for concern, not so much losing against the likes of Forres and Cove, but at home to Clach, a team we are trying to finish above this season."

The defeat saw the Speysiders slip to 14th place in the league table and McBeath knows they have to halt the slide sooner rather than later.

"I saw signs on Saturday that we were the better team but we defended poorly and lacked a cutting edge," he added.

The Speysiders have time to reflect and rest up before their next game, as they are not in Scottish Cup action this weekend.

"We have one or two who could do with a rest and with confidence being not having a game is not a bad thing. We will give the players the weekend off before working in training again next week."

The home clash with Brora a week on Saturday is already shaping up to be a massive game.

"No disrespect to Brora but they are struggling a bit. however, Andy (Macleod) will look at that game as a chance to turn the corner also."
