The club ran 12 individual time trial races on Thursday evenings across the course of summer, with 38 cyclists taking part.

After the final time trial, the winner has been crowned as Sam Glover, who got 77 points. Leigh Innes (68pts) and Gareth Wignall (54pts) came home in second and third.

The handicap award – the most improved rider throughout the league – went to John Murray (51pts). John consistently beat his Personal Best (PB) times week on week.

A time trial race sees cyclists set off in minute intervals, racing against their own personal best times or trying to catch the person in front of them. Elgin's league is confined to club members and specific invitees.

Races were run on four separate 10 to 17-mile courses at Spey Bay, Teindland, Cloddach and Orton throughout the last three months.

Organiser Lorna Breetzke said the league had been a success. She said: "The TT league generated a huge amount of interest and excitement.

"We would like to thank all our supporters, marshals and our three very professional timekeepers – Shirley Feaks, Sam Inch and Lesley Sinclair.

"We would also like to extend a huge thanks to residents on our TT circuits and motorists who were both supportive and watchful when passing our riders on the events."

Lorna added: "Notably, we had a significant number of cyclists who tried TT racing for the first time and it was great to see how they started to get the bug for racing.

"We are hoping next year's league proves even more popular and competitive."

Elgin Cycling Club organises regular Sunday and weekday rides, as well as a variety of cycling events, away days and social events.

All road cyclists are welcome at the club's Sunday rides – setting off from Grant Lodge each Sunday morning at 8.30am or 9am.
